Good Standing Letter
Good Standing
LETTER
In the Orthodox Church, a Godparent at a Baptism or a Sponsor at a Wedding must be an active member of an Orthodox parish. If they are not members of the parish where the sacrament will take place, they must provide a Letter of Membership in Good Standing from their home parish priest. This letter is required for all Orthodox Christians serving as sponsors at baptisms or weddings outside their own parish within the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

Live according to Orthodox Christian teachings and apply them in daily life
If married, have a Church-blessed marriage
If divorced, have received an ecclesiastical divorce decree
Be a steward of Saint Katherine, offering financial support and participating in parish life
